Money Changers in the Temple -- in Augusta, GAAccording to an LA Times article, a church in Augusta, GA has installed an ATM for the purpose of tithing. Now is it just me or does this conjure up clear images of Jesus driving the money changers out of the Temple (Jon 2:13-16)? Ok, Ok, I admit it: it was actually my wife who first saw the connection. "But the ATM is there for a godly purpose" you say... "for tithing!" The money changers were at the Temple for a godly purpose too: to allow foreign Jews to purchase animals for the sacrifice as the Hebrew Bible commanded. The money changers had to be there because they didn't have ATMs in Jesus' day.
